Kimberly Rivers-Blackmon

School Wellness Coordinator

Kimberly has over ten years experience in clinical nutrition, school nutrition, health and wellness training, foodservice management, curriculum development grant writing and on-line instruction.

Kimberly is a current trainer for the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and The National Food Service Management Institute. She is also an on-line instructor for the University of Phoenix and Everest University where she facilitates Business and Healthcare courses. She is an excellent communicator and problem solver with the immense ability to communicate well amongst various teams. Kimberly is results oriented and a well developed professional with numerous years of leadership experience in business operation with the responsibility of planning, managing, and implementing according to company policy and procedures.

Currently, Kimberly is a School Wellness Coordinator for United Healthcare’s Activate for Kids program. This philanthropic program is focused on addressing the childhood obesity epidemic through a school-based approach. The program launched nationally in six school districts in August 2011.

As the school wellness coordinator for Paulding County School District in Dallas, Georgia, Kimberly facilitates coordination and engagement between key stakeholders. She partners with community organizations to provide schools with available resources and programs.

Kimberly works to provide support for the school nurses and PE teachers through grant writing, campus-based health initiatives, and program implementation. Kimberly also identifies, improves, and implements school district procedures and protocols related to nutrition and fitness assessments as well as weight-related measurements.

Prior to United Healthcare, Kimberly worked as a School Nutrition Wellness Consultant for the Gadsden County School District, where she designed menus, developed wellness policies, conducted evaluations on the foodservice program delivery, implemented wellness programs and assisted with acquiring funding through grant writing.

Prior to being a School Wellness Consultant, Kimberly worked as a Nutrition Services Director for a long-term care and rehabilitation facility where she provided nutritional counseling for in-house rehabilitation residents. She also was responsible for the planning, direction, and management of the total nutritional services department.

Kimberly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with a minor in Exercise Science from Florida State University and completed her Dietetic Internship at Life University. She received her Masters of Business Administration and Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Public Health Policy at Walden University.
