Jacob Weiers has fifteen years of experience in promoting wellness.  He has served as a teacher, coach, and personal trainer. His passion and dedicated leadership drive him to seek solutions in the fight against childhood obesity.

Currently, Jacob is a School Wellness Coordinator for UnitedHealthcare’s Activate for Kids program. This philanthropic program is focused on addressing the childhood obesity epidemic through a school-based approach.

As the school wellness coordinator for Hall County School District in Hall County, Georgia, Jacob is dedicated to changing the culture of the schools with a focus on wellness.  He brings awareness through district-wide wellness activities, parental education, and school-based wellness initiatives.  He facilitates the implementation of program goals and objectives, providing support for the school nurses and PE teachers through the management of fitness related assessments and weight-related measurement.  Jacob assists schools with creating wellness councils, assessing needs and developing action plans.

Prior to UnitedHealthcare, Jacob spent fourteen years as a Physical Education Teacher.  The last seven spent with Fulton County Schools in Metro Atlanta.

In conjunction with his teaching responsibilities, Jacob served five years on the school leadership team, one year as a Saturday School Administrator, six years as the After-school Director through the Metro Atlanta YMCA, and four years as the School Wellness Coordinator.

It was the years spent as the Wellness Coordinator that fueled his passion to fight childhood obesity.  His school joined the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.   After the first year, his school obtained National Recognition, and Jacob became a National Wellness Champion recipient, awarded by the Alliance.  Through his leadership, his school was further recognized in the second year.

Jacob graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education K - 12 from Bethel College in St. Paul, MN.  He obtained his Master of Science in Physical Education from the Emporia State University. He also holds an Educational Leadership Certification from the University of West Georgia and a Project Management Professional certification.
